Two Feared Drowned in Jhelum River at Hajin, Massive Rescue Operation Underway

SRINAGAR: Two persons are feared drowned after three individuals reportedly slipped into the Jhelum River near Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday afternoon, officials and local sources said.According to reports, the incident triggered panic among locals and bystanders as the trio accidentally fell into the river under unclear circumstances.Soon after the incident, residents and volunteers rushed to the spot and launched an immediate rescue operation. One person was successfully rescued from the river and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.Meanwhile, SDRF teams, police personnel and local volunteers are continuing an extensive search operation in the Jhelum River to trace the two missing persons.Officials said rescue efforts were intensified in the Hajin area as teams combed multiple stretches of the river amid difficult conditions.The identities of the missing persons have not been officially confirmed so far, while authorities are yet to issue a detailed statement regarding the exact cause of the incident.The tragic incident has sparked concern across the area as locals gathered near the riverbank during the ongoing rescue operation.Further details are awaited.
