Trump Claims Iran Accepted Nuclear Ban, Tehran Denies as US-Iran Nuclear Talks Face Fresh Hurdles

Washington/Tehran: US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran agreed not to develop nuclear weapons, calling it a significant step toward easing tensions. However, Tehran has rejected the claim, denying any such agreement and dismissing reports that unfrozen Iranian assets would be used to purchase US agricultural products.Adding to the uncertainty, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi warned that political assurances alone are not enough. He stressed the need for a credible verification mechanism, noting that negotiations over Iran’s uranium stockpile and nuclear inspections remain in the early stages.Several key issues continue to block progress, including IAEA inspections, uranium enrichment, Iran’s missile programme, sanctions, and security in the Strait of Hormuz. With Washington and Tehran offering conflicting accounts, the future of the US-Iran nuclear deal remains uncertain as global attention stays focused on the latest diplomatic developments.
