TN Minister S Keerthana Unable To Take Oath as MLA After Missing Mandatory Election Certificate

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu minister and TVK leader S Keerthana was unable to complete her oath-taking ceremony as an MLA in the Assembly after failing to produce her Certificate of Election, a mandatory constitutional document required before taking oath as a legislator.
Keerthana, who had already taken oath as a minister in the Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, was reportedly stopped at the Assembly podium by Principal Secretary K Srinivasan before the formalities could be completed.
The Sivakasi MLA’s oath process was halted after officials found that the required election certificate issued by the Election Commission had not been submitted.
The incident quickly drew attention inside the Tamil Nadu Assembly, sparking political discussion and reactions over the procedural lapse involving the newly elected TVK representative.
Officials said the matter could be resolved once the mandatory constitutional documents are produced before the Assembly Secretariat
