Srinagar’s Lal Chowk Post Office Extends Timings to 9 PM for Public Convenience

SRINAGAR, October 13: In a move aimed at improving public convenience, the Lal Chowk Post Office in Srinagar will now remain open from 9 AM to 9 PM, extending its existing working hours from 9 AM to 5 PM.The extended timings will allow customers to access postal services, mail booking and parcel booking facilities beyond regular office hours. The initiative is expected to benefit shopkeepers, business establishments and tourists visiting Lal Chowk, one of Srinagar’s busiest commercial centres.Adam Mohiuddin, IPoS, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, said the decision aims to make India Post services more accessible, particularly for people unable to visit the post office during regular working hours.He said the extended schedule would provide shopkeepers with greater flexibility to book mail and parcels after completing their daily business activities. Tourists visiting Srinagar are also expected to benefit from the longer operating hours.The move is expected to improve customer convenience and postal service accessibility in Srinagar, enabling a wider section of the public to access essential mailing and parcel facilities.By keeping the Lal Chowk Post Office operational until 9 PM, the postal department aims to strengthen service delivery and provide more flexible postal facilities to residents, traders and visitors
