
SRINAGAR: In a major anti-drug operation in Kashmir, Srinagar Police, in collaboration with the Revenue Department, demolished a three-storey residential property worth nearly ₹2 crore in the Rainawari area, alleging that it was built on encroached government land using proceeds from narcotics trafficking.According to officials, the property belonged to Sheikh Tasaduq, a resident of Mumkhan Mohalla, Rainawari, who is facing multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.Police said an investigation into the accused’s assets revealed that the structure had allegedly been constructed on illegally occupied State land and financed through income generated from the illegal drug trade. The demolition also resulted in the recovery of valuable government land from unlawful occupation.Authorities stated that the accused is involved in several drug-related cases registered in Awantipora and Budgam, while his spouse is also facing an NDPS case in Pulwama.Officials said the property was identified as an illegally acquired asset linked to narcotics trafficking and was demolished after all legal formalities were completed in the presence of Revenue Department officials.The action is part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir campaign, aimed at dismantling drug networks, targeting illegally acquired assets, and intensifying the crackdown on narcotics trafficking across the Valley.Police reiterated their commitment to combating the drug menace in Jammu and Kashmir and taking strict action against individuals allegedly involved in the illegal narcotics trade.
