
SRINAGAR: In a major boost to the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police have attached immovable properties worth nearly Rs 2 crore belonging to alleged drug peddlers as part of an intensified anti-drug crackdown in Kashmir.According to officials, Bemina Police attached properties valued at around Rs 1.5 crore belonging to alleged narcotics trafficker Mudasir Ahmad Pir alias Sahil alias Doge, a resident of Firdous Colony, Bemina. The action was taken under Section 68F(1) of the NDPS Act after receiving approval from the Competent Authority under SAFEMA, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.The attached assets include a double-storey residential house and nearly four marlas of land in Bemina, Srinagar. Police investigations revealed that the property was allegedly acquired through proceeds generated from illegal drug trafficking and narcotics trade.In another major action under the NDPS Act, Srinagar Police attached a residential property and land worth approximately Rs 50 lakh belonging to alleged drug peddler Shafiq Ahmad Khawaja of Dildar Karnah in Kupwara district.The property attachment was carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985, in connection with FIR No. 10/2024 registered at Police Station MR Gunj under Sections 8, 21, and 29 of the NDPS Act.Police said both properties were attached after completing all legal formalities and establishing that the assets were allegedly purchased using money earned through narcotics trafficking and drug peddling activities.Officials said the latest Srinagar anti-drug operation is aimed at dismantling the financial networks of drug traffickers and ensuring that illegally acquired assets are seized in accordance with the law.Reaffirming its commitment to making Jammu and Kashmir drug-free, Srinagar Police urged citizens to support the anti-narcotics campaign by sharing information about drug peddling, narcotics smuggling, and other illegal activities in their localities.
