HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged citizens to use petrol, diesel and other petro products cautiously amid the ongoing West Asia crisis, saying controlled fuel consumption is the “need of the hour” to reduce pressure on India’s economy and limit the impact of global conflicts.Addressing a public event in Hyderabad after virtually inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for development projects worth nearly Rs 9,400 crore in Telangana, PM Modi said India should use imported petro products only when necessary.“We have to use petrol, diesel and gas with restraint. Imported petro products should be consumed only as per need. This will help save foreign exchange and also reduce the adverse impact of war,” the Prime Minister said.Highlighting India’s push towards energy security and renewable energy, Modi said the country has emerged among the world’s leading nations in solar energy production over the past few years. He also pointed to rapid growth in ethanol blending in petrol, expansion of LPG coverage, promotion of piped gas supply and increased focus on CNG-based transport systems.According to the Prime Minister, these measures are helping India tackle the ongoing global energy crisis more effectively.PM Modi further said India is moving ahead rapidly through reforms, infrastructure development and energy transformation, assuring people that the Centre would continue working for the welfare and development of every family in Telangana. The event held at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) was attended by Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with several senior leaders and officials.
