SRINAGAR: Residents of Panthachowk in Srinagar on Friday staged a peaceful protest against the proposed opening of a wine shop, urging the Jammu and Kashmir administration to cancel the plan.The protesters said the liquor outlet is proposed in a residential area surrounded by several religious institutions, including mosques, making the location inappropriate and against the sentiments of local residents.”We request the administration not to allow a wine shop in our locality. It is a residential area, and such a move will have a negative social impact,” a protester said.The residents appealed to the J&K Government to intervene and review the decision, expressing hope that public concerns would be respected. They urged the authorities to stop the proposed liquor outlet before it becomes operational.The protest remained peaceful, with locals demanding immediate action to prevent the opening of the wine shop in Panthachowk
