Pakistan SC Orders Imran Khan’s Transfer to Hospital Amid Health Concerns.

Islamabad, August 18: Pakistan’s Supreme Court has directed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan be shifted from prison to Shifa International Hospital for specialised medical treatment amid growing concerns over his health.
According to reports, the court has ordered that the 73-year-old Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder be transferred to the hospital within 48 hours and remain there until September 16. Khan’s spokesperson Naeem Haider Panjutha announced the development in a post on X.
The Supreme Court’s decision follows repeated demands from Imran Khan’s family and PTI leaders for specialised medical care. His lawyers have previously claimed that Khan suffered a significant loss of vision in his right eye while in custody, while his sons have also expressed concern over his deteriorating health.
PTI spokesperson Zulfikar Bukhari welcomed the court’s decision, saying medical treatment should have been provided earlier to prevent further deterioration of Khan’s health and eyesight.
Imran Khan has been incarcerated since August 2023 after being convicted in multiple cases. He has denied wrongdoing and has repeatedly alleged that the cases against him are politically motivated.
The former Pakistan premier, who was removed from office through a no-confidence vote in 2022, continues to face several legal cases. Some of his convictions have been suspended or overturned, while other appeals remain pending.
Khan’s PTI won the 2018 general election and continues to retain significant political support in parts of Pakistan.
