Omar Abdullah Calls for United Movement, Says Ready to Sacrifice Politics for J&K Rights.

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday called for a united political movement for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s rights, saying all parties should be willing to set aside their political identities if they are genuinely committed to the cause.Speaking at The Hindu Huddle, Omar said the struggle for restoring constitutional protections and rights taken away in 2019 must be based on sincerity, consistency and public trust rather than symbolic gestures.“If everyone is sincere, let us suspend political parties and stand together on one movement platform. We should fight democratically and peacefully until our rights are restored,” he said. The Chief Minister also expressed his willingness to make personal political sacrifices, stating that he would be the first to resign if a common movement platform was formed.Omar stressed that restoring rights and statehood requires sustained efforts and warned that one-time political exercises would not convince the public. He said people would only support such initiatives if they witnessed genuine commitment and continuity. The Chief Minister further voiced concern over attempts to radicalise youth on religious lines in different parts of the country, cautioning that such developments could have wider social and political consequences. His remarks come amid renewed political discussions over the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and constitutional guarantees.
