SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir politics heated up on Friday after Leader of Opposition Sunil Kumar Sharma launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accusing him of focusing more on foreign trips than governance and public issues.Calling Omar Abdullah a “tourist-in-chief,” Sharma alleged that the Chief Minister has remained “missing” for the past several days while people across Jammu and Kashmir continue to struggle with basic issues like electricity, water supply, healthcare, and road connectivity. The BJP leader claimed Omar Abdullah is acting more like a “globetrotting traveller” than the elected head of a sensitive Union Territory, saying the CM’s schedule appears packed with international visits instead of administrative work.“Omar Abdullah seems busy with travel plans while common people in J&K are suffering due to poor public services,” Sharma said while addressing reporters. The LoP also questioned how Omar Abdullah is handling nearly 18 major departments, including Finance, Tourism, Revenue, Power Development, and General Administration, while allegedly spending time on foreign tours.Sharma further referred to a previous controversy in which Omar Abdullah had reportedly planned a Paris visit during a crisis involving stranded apple growers in Kashmir due to highway closure.“When farmers were suffering and apple consignments were stuck, the Chief Minister was preparing for a foreign trip,” Sharma alleged. In a dramatic statement, Sharma said the BJP may even file a “missing report” over the Chief Minister’s absence and is consulting legal experts regarding possible legal action. The remarks have triggered strong political reactions across Jammu and Kashmir, with the latest war of words between BJP and National Conference drawing major attention on social media and political circles.
