Srinagar, October 25: Traffic Police City Srinagar on Sunday clarified that no candidate appearing for the Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test (JKSET) was prevented from reaching their examination destination due to traffic diversions implemented for the Kashmir Marathon.

In an official statement, the department said traffic arrangements were introduced in phases to facilitate the smooth conduct of the marathon while ensuring minimum inconvenience to examination candidates and the general public.

According to the Traffic Police, MA Road and routes through Mamta Chowk, Jahangir Chowk, Ikhwan Chowk and Radio Kashmir Crossing were opened to normal traffic by 8:30 am.

Traffic movement on Boulevard Road towards Nishat was restored at 10:15 am. The department said some JKSET candidates were also permitted to travel from Nishat towards Dalgate during this period.

The remaining diversion at Habak Crossing towards Nishat was lifted at 11:45 am, the statement added.

Rejecting claims of traffic congestion and difficulties faced by examination candidates, the department said the diversions were planned and announced in advance to manage the movement of vehicles during the large-scale sporting event.
