MP Er Rashid’s Father Passes Away at AIIMS; AIP Seeks Humanitarian Release for Baramulla MP.

SRINAGAR: Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, father of jailed Baramulla Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid, passed away late Saturday night at AIIMS, family sources told media outlets on Sunday.
The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) confirmed the demise and expressed deep grief over the passing of the veteran teacher, who was widely respected across Jammu and Kashmir for his dedication to education, ethics, and public service.
In a statement, AIP spokesperson Inam Un Nabi described Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh as a man of integrity and a strong pillar of support throughout Engineer Rashid’s political journey.
“He remained a steadfast source of strength and guidance for Er Rashid during every phase of his public life,” the statement said.
The party also appealed to the Government of India to grant temporary humanitarian release to the incarcerated MP so he can attend his father’s last rites.
“It is the basic right of a son to bid farewell to his father. Human compassion should rise above political differences in moments of personal grief,” Inam Un Nabi stated.
The demise of Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh has triggered condolences from political workers, former students, and well-wishers across Kashmir, with many remembering him for his contribution to society and education.
