Shopian, August 18: A woman died while her son sustained injuries after the scooty they were travelling on skidded off the road in the Amerbugh area of Imam Sahib in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday.According to officials, the accident occurred when the scooty, being driven by the woman’s son, lost control and skidded off the road at Amerbugh.The woman, who was riding pillion, suffered critical injuries in the road accident and died on the spot. Her son sustained minor injuries and was subsequently taken for medical treatment.The deceased has been identified as Saja Banoo, wife of Ghulam Qadir Naikoo and a resident of Kharwara. Her injured son has been identified as Shakeel Ahmad Naikoo, son of Ghulam Qadir Naikoo.Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the fatal scooty accident.
