Mohan Bhagwat Defends Dialogue with Pakistan, Says RSS Follows Government Policy

SRINAGAR: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has defended senior RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale’s remarks on maintaining dialogue with Pakistan, clarifying that the call was for engagement with the people of Pakistan and not an endorsement of the country’s policies.
Speaking during the RSS centenary celebrations in Thiruvananthapuram, Bhagwat said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) does not have a separate foreign policy and fully supports the Government of India’s Pakistan policy.
Referring to Hosabale’s earlier comments, Bhagwat said there are people within Pakistan who oppose the two-nation theory and believe Partition was a mistake. He noted that some voices in Pakistan continue to advocate peaceful coexistence and dialogue.
The RSS chief stressed that while India’s national security and sovereignty remain paramount, channels of communication should not be completely shut. He also asserted that India’s civilisational values are based on justice, peace and coexistence rather than hatred or destruction.
Bhagwat reiterated that the RSS aligns its views on international affairs with those of the Union Government and does not formulate independent diplomatic policies.
His remarks come amid renewed debate over India-Pakistan relations, balancing concerns over terrorism and national security with the possibility of future diplomatic engagement.
