Mehbooba Mufti Calls for District-Level Protests Across J&K on August 5

Srinagar, Aug 4: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday directed all party office bearers to ensure active participation in district-level protests across Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, marking the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370.The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Mehbooba Mufti with senior party leaders, MLAs, and office bearers of the parent, women and youth wings. According to a party statement, all functionaries have been asked to mobilise workers for the protests.The demonstrations will demand the restoration of Article 370 and the release of political prisoners, the PDP said.Article 370, which granted special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, was abrogated by the Centre on August 5, 2019.
