
SRINAGAR: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has called for a united political initiative in Jammu and Kashmir, urging leaders across party lines to jointly engage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for a sustained dialogue process on key J&K issues.In a significant political outreach, Mehbooba Mufti has written to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, opposition leaders, regional political parties, and civil society representatives, seeking the formation of a broad-based platform to address the concerns, aspirations, and future of Jammu and Kashmir.The letters were sent to several prominent leaders, including Omar Abdullah, Sunil Sharma, Tariq Hameed Karra, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, Sajad Gani Lone, Engineer Rashid, Mehraj Malik, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, Harsh Dev Singh, Manish Sahni, Sanjay Tickoo, and Jaspal Singh.In her letter to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti stressed the need for political unity in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the region was facing growing public disappointment and uncertainty. She said meaningful progress could only be achieved through dialogue between Jammu and Kashmir and the Central Government.Drawing parallels with recent developments in Ladakh, Mufti said the engagement between the Leh Apex Body, Kargil Democratic Alliance, and the Centre demonstrated that dialogue remains the most effective path toward resolving long-pending issues.Calling for an all-party meeting in Jammu and Kashmir, she urged Omar Abdullah to bring political parties together on a common platform and initiate a collective outreach to New Delhi.Mehbooba Mufti emphasized that regional political differences should be set aside in the larger interest of the people and said the focus should remain on safeguarding the rights, dignity, and constitutional guarantees of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.She maintained that a united political approach and constructive engagement with the Centre could help address key concerns and open the door for a meaningful political process in Jammu and Kashmir.The PDP chief also requested that additional political parties and stakeholders be included in the proposed initiative to ensure broader representation and consensus on the future course of action.
