Kashmir Police Destroy Huge Stock of Seized Drugs in Pulwama, Tighten Crackdown on Narcotics

SRINAGAR: In a major anti-drug operation, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir Crime Branch, in coordination with the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Kashmir, on Thursday destroyed a large quantity of seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances at the IGC Lassipora incinerator facility in Pulwama, following court orders.The destroyed contraband included charas, ganja, and psychotropic tablets seized during multiple anti-narcotics operations carried out across Kashmir. The disposal was conducted through a scientific and environmentally compliant incineration process under the supervision of the Drug Disposal Committee, ensuring full compliance with legal and judicial guidelines.The destruction drive was chaired by SSP EOW Kashmir and Chairman of the Drug Disposal Committee Abdul Waheed Shah. Senior officials, including DySP ANTF Kubra Nazir, Senior Prosecuting Officer Abdul Bari, and other officers, supervised the entire process to ensure strict adherence to prescribed procedures.Officials said the initiative is part of the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in Kashmir, aimed at preventing seized narcotics from re-entering circulation and strengthening enforcement against the illegal drug trade.They added that the operation also reinforces the Government’s commitment to the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a nationwide campaign focused on eliminating drug abuse, dismantling narcotics networks, and creating a drug-free society through coordinated law enforcement and legal action.
