
SRINAGAR, July 27: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast widespread rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall possible in parts of the Jammu division, particularly Udhampur and adjoining areas.According to the forecast, rain and thundershowers are likely at many places on July 27, mainly from late afternoon to evening, followed by an improvement in weather conditions.From July 28 to 31, the Kashmir division is expected to receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers at most places, while brief intense showers may occur in a few districts, particularly during early morning and late afternoon or evening hours.The Jammu division could witness several spells of rain and thundershowers, with heavy to very heavy rain and torrential showers possible at a few locations. Udhampur and nearby areas may see particularly intense rainfall around July 30 and 31.Rain and thundershowers are also forecast at many places on August 1 and 2, with similar weather expected on August 3 and 4. Some districts of Jammu division could again experience heavy or intense showers.The weather department has warned that intense rainfall between July 28 and 31 could trigger flash floods, landslides and mudslides at vulnerable locations. Residents, tourists, travellers and transporters have been advised to remain alert and follow official advisories.
