J&K Police Attach Chandigarh Property Worth Rs 93 Lakh in Major NDPS Crackdown

In a major action against the drug trafficking network in Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached a residential property worth nearly Rs 93 lakh in Chandigarh in connection with an NDPS case in Jammu.The case was registered at Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu after police arrested Arun Singh, a resident of Rajeev Nagar, Narwal, during a naka checking operation on January 14 and recovered 5.61 grams of heroin from his possession.Following the heroin seizure in Jammu, police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and launched an extensive investigation into the alleged narcotics network.During the probe, investigators reportedly uncovered a wider drug smuggling racket linked to Jammu and Kashmir and traced suspicious financial transactions connected to the illegal narcotics trade. The investigation later led police to Chandigarh, where co-accused Rishi Singh, brother of Arun Singh, was found residing.According to officials, the investigation revealed that a residential property in Sector 38-A, Chandigarh, had allegedly been purchased using money generated through illegal drug trafficking activities linked to the NDPS case.Acting under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, a team from Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station on Thursday attached the immovable property as part of the ongoing anti-drug operation.Police officials described the action as a significant step in the anti-narcotics campaign in Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at dismantling the financial backbone of drug trafficking networks and targeting assets acquired through proceeds of crime.The latest crackdown comes amid intensified efforts by J&K Police to curb the rising menace of heroin smuggling and narcotics-related crimes across the Union Territory.
