SRINAGAR: A fresh landslide in Dewal area of Udhampur disrupted traffic on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) on Monday, leaving around 1,700 trucks and several passenger vehicles stranded, officials said.Authorities have suspended fresh traffic from both directions until the affected highway stretch is cleared and declared safe. Vehicles are currently not being allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar, Doda, Ramban and Patnitop, or from the Kashmir side towards Jammu.Meanwhile, vehicles already stranded between Udhampur and Banihal are being cleared through a single carriageway, with passenger vehicles receiving priority.Officials said clearance teams are working to remove landslide debris and restore NH-44 traffic at the earliest. Commuters have been advised to avoid travelling on the highway until further orders due to the risk of fresh landslides and shooting stones along vulnerable stretches.
