SRINAGAR, September 1, 2026: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience a significant decline in rainfall activity from Wednesday, September 2, with generally dry weather forecast across the Union Territory until September 10, according to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar.The weather department has forecast hot and humid conditions across Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, September 1, with light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers expected at many places.Brief spells of intense rainfall may occur, particularly over parts of the Jammu division, during the early morning and late afternoon or evening hours.MeT Issues Rainfall and Landslide WarningThe Meteorological Centre has cautioned that intense and localised rainfall could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides in vulnerable areas.People living in landslide-prone and other vulnerable locations have been advised to remain alert and exercise caution during periods of heavy or intense rainfall.Jammu Kashmir Weather Forecast From September 2 to 10According to the latest forecast, generally dry weather is expected across Jammu and Kashmir from September 2 to September 10.However, isolated to scattered areas may still receive brief spells of rain and thundershowers, mainly during the early morning and afternoon hours.The weather office said the region is likely to see a gradual reduction in widespread rainfall activity after Tuesday, although isolated showers may continue at some locations.Residents and travellers are advised to stay updated with official weather advisories, particularly in areas vulnerable to flash floods, landslides and mudslides.
