
Sopore, June 29: A human skull recovered from the Jhelum River in Sopore has triggered a major police investigation, creating concern among residents of the Takiyabal area in north Kashmir.According to officials, locals discovered what appeared to be a human skull lying along the Jhelum riverbank in Sopore on Sunday evening and immediately informed Sopore Police. Acting swiftly, a police team, accompanied by experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), reached the spot, secured the area and recovered the skeletal remains for forensic examination.Officials said the human remains recovered in Sopore have been sent for medico-legal and forensic analysis to determine the identity of the deceased, estimate the age of the skull, and establish how the remains ended up on the Jhelum River bank.Police have registered a case and launched a detailed Sopore Police investigation. Investigators said all possible angles are being examined, and further action will depend on the findings of the forensic and medico-legal reports.Authorities have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that may help identify the deceased.
