Srinagar, Aug 3: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a fresh weather advisory forecasting widespread rain and thunderstorms across Jammu and Kashmir over the next five days, while warning of heavy showers, flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas. The latest forecast indicates that several districts are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall, with isolated places expected to receive intense downpours and torrential showers.According to the MeT Department, August 3 and 4 are expected to witness light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places, particularly during the afternoon, evening and early morning hours. A few districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by brief but intense showers.From August 5 to 7, weather activity is expected to continue, with widespread light to moderate rain and thunderstorms across many parts of the Union Territory. Isolated locations may again witness heavy showers during this period.Weather conditions are likely to improve slightly between August 8 and 10, although scattered areas may still receive light rain and thundershowers, with the possibility of brief intense showers at a few places.The MeT Centre has specifically cautioned that heavy rainfall over parts of the Jammu division could trigger flash floods, landslides and mudslides in vulnerable locations over the next five days. Residents, tourists and commuters have been advised to remain alert, avoid flood-prone areas during heavy rainfall and follow weather advisories issued by the administration.Authorities have urged the public to monitor official weather updates and exercise caution, especially in hilly regions where continuous rainfall could affect road connectivity and increase the risk of landslides.
