SRINAGAR: With the Haj 2027 application deadline just days away, the Jammu & Kashmir Haj Committee has urged eligible pilgrims to complete their registration at the earliest, revealing that only around 2,300 applications have been received against the Union Territory’s 8,000-seat Haj quota.Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the J&K Haj Committee, Dr. Shujaat Ahmad Qureshi, said the response has been far below expectations and appealed to all eligible aspirants to submit their Haj 2027 applications before the July 20, 2026 deadline. He emphasized that a valid passport is mandatory for applying and advised intending pilgrims not to wait until the last moment. Dr. Qureshi also urged people to spread awareness among relatives, friends and other eligible applicants so that no one misses the opportunity to perform Haj 2027.The Haj Committee has expressed concern over the slow pace of registrations despite the significant increase in the J&K Haj quota this year. For comparison, 4,351 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir performed Haj in 2025 against a quota of 4,200 seats, after the Haj Committee received 6,862 applications. However, for Haj 2027, only around 2,300 applications have been submitted so far despite the Union Territory being allotted 8,000 seats. With the Haj 2027 registration deadline of July 20 approaching fast, the J&K Haj Committee has once again appealed to all eligible pilgrims with valid passports to apply online without delay and avoid the last-minute rush.
