SRINAGAR, August 25, 2026: Gold prices witnessed a decline across India on Tuesday, with domestic gold futures falling amid weaker demand in the physical market. The latest movement comes as investors and traders continue to closely track global bullion prices, domestic demand and broader market conditions.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold contracts for October delivery declined by ₹120, or 0.07 per cent, to ₹1,63,109 per 10 grams. The contracts recorded a business turnover of 1,595 lots during trading.
Gold Prices Fall Amid Weak Spot Demand
According to market analysts, the latest decline in gold prices was largely driven by subdued demand in the physical or spot market. Lower buying activity has put some pressure on domestic gold futures despite prices continuing to remain at historically elevated levels.
The movement in the domestic bullion market is also being influenced by international price trends, with traders keeping a close watch on developments in the global gold market.
Gold Futures Also Decline Internationally
In international trade, gold futures fell 0.23 per cent to $4,641.42 per ounce in New York.
The decline in global gold prices, combined with softer domestic demand, contributed to the downward movement in Indian gold futures. However, analysts noted that gold continues to trade at elevated levels, meaning prices remain significantly higher despite the latest marginal correction.
Gold Price Outlook
Gold prices are expected to remain sensitive to global market movements, investor demand, physical buying, currency fluctuations and international economic developments.
For consumers in India, including buyers looking to purchase jewellery or bullion, the latest decline could offer some relief after gold prices remained at elevated levels. However, daily rates may continue to fluctuate depending on international prices and domestic market demand.
