SRINAGAR: Fresh flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in the Thathri area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Tuesday, damaging residential and commercial properties, blocking the National Highway, and disrupting normal life across the region.According to officials, overflowing floodwaters and debris inundated several parts of Thathri town, causing significant damage to houses, shops, and public infrastructure. Road clearance teams and emergency response personnel were immediately pressed into service to restore connectivity.Officials said restoration operations are progressing on a war footing, with district authorities closely monitoring the situation. Efforts are focused on clearing debris, reopening blocked roads, and assessing structural damage to affected buildings. The latest flash flood comes just days after another weather-related incident disrupted road connectivity at Prem Nagar in Doda district, raising fresh concerns over the impact of continuous heavy rainfall across the Chenab Valley.Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported so far. However, authorities have advised residents living in vulnerable areas to remain alert as adverse weather conditions continue to pose a risk of landslides and flash floods.
