EOW Kashmir Conducts Searches in Shopian, Pulwama Over Alleged Service Record Fraud

SRINAGAR: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of the Crime Branch on Saturday carried out searches in Shopian and Pulwama districts as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged service record fraud involving manipulation of official documents to secure undue benefits.According to officials, the case relates to the alleged insertion and alteration of date-of-birth entries in government service records. Acting on the investigation, EOW teams conducted searches at the office of the Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO) Shopian and at a residence in Thamuna, Pulwama.The searches were conducted following legal procedures and in the presence of independent witnesses. Officials said several documents and records have been seized and are being examined to determine the extent of the alleged irregularities and identify those involved.The Crime Branch Kashmir said the investigation remains underway and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the operation.Meanwhile, EOW Kashmir has urged citizens to remain alert against economic offences, fraud and document manipulation, and report any suspicious activities through the Crime Branch’s official grievance mechanism.
