Srinagar, Aug 3: Jammu and Kashmir Social Welfare Minister Sakina Masood Itoo on Monday clarified that eligible girls will continue to receive marriage assistance under the government scheme even if the financial aid is sanctioned after their marriage due to delays caused by the non-availability of funds.Addressing an awareness camp organised by the Social Welfare Department in Baramulla, the minister said applicants must submit valid AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) or BPL (Below Poverty Line) cards along with other required documents to avail the benefit. She assured that while assistance is normally released after document verification, delays in fund availability will not deprive deserving beneficiaries of their entitlement.Sakina Itoo said the awareness programme was aimed at ensuring that welfare initiatives, including the Marriage Assistance Scheme, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Women Development Corporation (WDC) and ST/SC Corporation schemes, reach every eligible household across Jammu and Kashmir.”Our goal is to ensure that every deserving family benefits from these welfare programmes,” she said.During the event, the minister also distributed appointment orders, tricycles and hearing aids to beneficiaries through the Rehabilitation Council, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening social welfare and inclusive development.
