
SRINAGAR: In a significant humanitarian relief, the Delhi High Court on Monday granted interim bail to Baramulla Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid, allowing him to attend the funeral and last rites of his father, Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh.Family sources told news agency JKNS that Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh passed away on Monday morning after a prolonged illness, triggering widespread grief and condolences across Jammu and Kashmir.Following his demise, several appeals were made on compassionate grounds seeking permission for the jailed MP to attend his father’s funeral prayers and burial rituals.Engineer Rashid, currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in connection with a terror-funding case being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), was subsequently granted interim bail by the Delhi High Court to participate in the funeral proceedings.The development has sparked emotional reactions across Kashmir, with supporters and political workers calling the decision a humanitarian step during a moment of personal tragedy for the Baramulla MP.
