SRINAGAR: The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Srinagar has issued a corrigendum clarifying an earlier order concerning the alleged death of a patient associated with Moj Gobur (Medlyn) Hospital in Chanapora, Srinagar.
In the corrigendum dated August 8, 2026, the CMO clarified that an earlier order had inadvertently mentioned two alleged deaths, whereas the matter actually pertains to one patient who is alleged to have died after being referred to SMHS Hospital.
According to the clarification, the patient was reportedly referred to SMHS Hospital following complications arising during or after a surgical procedure.
The CMO office, however, stressed that the clarification does not confirm or admit the alleged death, its cause, or any allegations related to the surgery or treatment provided.
The facts and circumstances surrounding the case—including the alleged death, sequence of events, cause of death and other related issues—will remain subject to verification and inquiry by the constituted committee and competent authorities.
The corrigendum further stated that all other terms and contents of the original order will remain unchanged.
The earlier order had constituted a committee in connection with the alleged patient death, and the latest clarification has been issued to rectify the factual description in that order.
