SRINAGAR: Residents of Bagh-e-Yas in Chattabal have received a new community centre constructed by the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) at a cost of ₹2.37 crore.The newly built Community Hall was inaugurated on Monday, providing residents with a dedicated space for community gatherings, public meetings and local activities.Furniture for the facility will also be provided through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) of Habba Kadal MLA and Jammu and Kashmir National Conference State Women’s Wing President Shamima Firdous.The inauguration was preceded by an Awami Darbar, where residents highlighted several concerns related to basic amenities, infrastructure and public services in the Bagh-e-Yas area.Among the key demands raised by residents were the development of a park, establishment of a fire station, improvement in electricity supply and setting up of a dispensary.The residents said that while the new community centre is a welcome addition, strengthening essential civic infrastructure remains important for improving facilities in the locality.Interacting with residents, Shamima Firdous said the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference remained committed to fulfilling the promises made in its election manifesto and ensuring that development reaches all sections of society.She assured residents that their genuine demands would be taken up with the concerned authorities and pursued for resolution in a phased and timely manner.The new community centre is expected to serve as an important public facility for Bagh-e-Yas and Chattabal residents, while the issues raised during the Awami Darbar have renewed focus on the need for improved civic amenities, electricity, healthcare, fire safety and public infrastructure in the area.
