
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi has been selected in the India A squad for the upcoming New Zealand tour, marking another major step in his rapidly rising cricket career.The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) welcomed Nabi’s selection, describing it as a proud moment for J&K cricket and extending its best wishes to the fast bowler.Dhruv Jurel will lead the India A side as captain and wicket-keeper. The squad also features senior international players including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Washington Sundar and Akash Deep.Nabi has earned his place following an impressive domestic season and recent exposure at the international level. He previously represented India A on the Sri Lanka tour, claiming six wickets in two first-class matches.The Jammu and Kashmir pacer was instrumental in J&K’s historic maiden Ranji Trophy triumph during the 2025–26 season. He finished the tournament as the leading wicket-taker with 60 wickets and has claimed 104 wickets across the last two domestic seasons.Nabi was later handed his maiden senior India Test call-up as a replacement for injured fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah during the Sri Lanka tour. He made his international debut for India in an ODI against the West Indies on September 30, 2026.The fast bowler has also featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and English county cricket. He currently has an ₹8.40 crore contract with Delhi Capitals and recently represented Surrey in the English County Championship.His selection for the India A New Zealand tour will provide another opportunity to gain valuable experience in red-ball and multi-day cricket as he continues his rise from Jammu and Kashmir cricket to the international stage.
