
SRINAGAR: Kashmir’s ongoing anti-drug campaign has intensified sharply under the Lieutenant Governor-led administration’s 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir initiative, with authorities ramping up enforcement operations and public awareness drives across the Valley.According to figures shared by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, law enforcement agencies have so far registered 441 FIRs and arrested 444 alleged drug peddlers during the large-scale crackdown against narcotics trafficking.Officials said more than 387 kilograms of narcotic substances have been seized in multiple operations carried out across different districts of Kashmir.As part of the anti-narcotics drive, authorities also destroyed illegal poppy cultivation spread over 165 kanals of land, targeting the supply chain linked to drug trafficking networks.The administration said the coordinated campaign reflects a strong commitment towards eliminating the growing drug menace through strict policing, intelligence-based operations and community participation.“Kashmir has spoken — drugs have no place in our society,” the Divisional Commissioner said while urging people to support efforts aimed at building a drug-free Kashmir.The anti-drug initiative continues to witness intensified action as security agencies expand crackdowns on narcotics smuggling, drug peddling and illegal cultivation across Jammu and Kashmir.
