Anantnag Police Crack Down on Illegal Mining, Seize 10 Vehicles Including JCB and Dumpers

SRINAGAR: In a major action against illegal mining in South Kashmir, Anantnag Police seized 10 vehicles, including a JCB machine, tippers, and dumpers, during multiple operations carried out across the district.Officials said the crackdown was launched to stop the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and to protect natural resources from large-scale exploitation.During the first raid, a team from Police Post Janglatmandi conducted an operation in the Donipawa area, where illegal mining activities were allegedly taking place. Police seized one JCB machine and four tippers reportedly involved in unlawful mineral extraction and transportation.Legal proceedings were immediately initiated against those involved.In another operation during late-night patrolling, a police team from Police Post Dialgam intercepted five dumpers at Bondialgam Crossing suspected of illegally transporting mineral material.Police registered FIR No. 157/2026 under Section 305(e) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), while further investigation is underway.Anantnag Police reiterated that the drive against illegal mining, mineral smuggling, and environmental violations in Kashmir will continue with strict action against offenders.Authorities also appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report illegal mining activities in their respective areas.
