AIP Conducts Secret Ballot on Engineer Rashid’s Proposed Resignation

Srinagar, June 26: The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) on Thursday began a secret ballot across all 18 Assembly segments of the Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency to seek public opinion on the proposed resignation of jailed Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid.Voters are participating in the exercise by selecting either “Yes,” “No,” or “NOTA” to indicate whether Engineer Rashid should step down from the Lok Sabha. The polling process is being carried out in the presence of appointed observers to ensure transparency and fairness.According to AIP leaders, the initiative is intended to reflect the public’s mandate before any final decision is taken regarding Rashid’s parliamentary seat.The party said that after the voting concludes, it will hold a press conference to announce voter turnout, disclose the results of the ballot, and outline its future course of action.
