
GANDERBAL, AUGUST 24: The body of a 12-year-old boy who drowned in Nallah Sindh in the Fatehpora area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district was recovered on Monday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Mohsin Mukhtar, 12, son of Mukhtar Ahmad Lone, a resident of Bamloora, Ganderbal.
According to officials, the boy drowned in Nallah Sindh on Sunday, following which a search operation was launched to trace him. The recovery operation continued until his body was found on Monday.
Officials said the necessary legal formalities are being completed before the body is handed over to the family.
The Nallah Sindh drowning incident in Ganderbal comes amid renewed concerns over the safety of children and residents around fast-flowing water bodies in Kashmir, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall and rising water levels.
The incident has drawn attention to water safety in Kashmir, with authorities and rescue agencies repeatedly advising residents, especially children, to stay away from swollen streams and rivers during adverse weather conditions.
