Tourist Couple from Kolkata Allegedly Robbed by Cab Driver from UP in J&K

Srinagar, Jan 27: A tourist couple from Kolkata was allegedly robbed by their cab driver in the Banihal area while visiting Kashmir, prompting police to launch an investigation, officials said.According to the complaint filed by the victims, the driver fled with their belongings after dropping them off in Banihal. The couple realised the theft shortly after the driver left the spot with their luggage and personal items.Officials identified the accused as Amit, a resident of Uttar Pradesh. The vehicle involved in the incident bears registration number UP16 NT 6191.The victims, particularly the woman, Uma, from Kolkata, have appealed to the authorities to trace the cab and apprehend the driver at the earliest so that their belongings can be recovered. They also urged swift action, citing the distress caused during their visit.Police said they have taken cognizance of the complaint and initiated necessary legal proceedings. Efforts are underway to track the vehicle and locate the accused, officials added.
