Syed Asgar Ali Returns to PDP After Seven Years, Rejoins Party in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Former legislator and senior political leader Syed Asgar Ali has rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Srinagar, returning to the party after a gap of seven years in the presence of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti.Ali, a former MLC from Kishtwar, had resigned from the PDP on February 21, 2019. During his earlier tenure, he served as one of the party’s senior-most leaders and was also a member of its Political Affairs Committee.Welcoming his return, Mehbooba Mufti described Ali’s rejoining as significant for the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir.A prominent political figure from Kishtwar, Ali had previously held a senior position in the PDP’s organisational and political structure. He is also the father of IAS officer Syed Sehrish Asgar.
