Doda, Dec 30. A Forest Guard lost his life in an accident after being hit by a falling stone near the Gaadi Nallah area of Doda district on Monday night, officials said.
The victim was identified as Muhammad Iqbal Zargar, an employee of the Forest Department. Officials said he was moving on foot along a hilly stretch when a stone suddenly came down from the slope above and struck him on the head, causing him to collapse immediately.
People present in the area noticed the incident and promptly rushed to his help. He was taken to the District Hospital Doda in an unconscious condition for urgent medical attention. However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead, stating that the head injuries he had sustained were too severe.
Officials said the stretch where the incident occurred is known for frequent stone slides due to its fragile terrain.
