Srinagar Traffic Restrictions, Diversions Announced Ahead of IFFJK Inauguration

Srinagar, September 7: Traffic Police Srinagar has announced traffic restrictions and route diversions across key roads leading towards the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in view of the inauguration of the first International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) on Monday evening.The traffic curbs will remain in effect from 4 pm to 7 pm on September 7, or until the inauguration ceremony concludes, whichever is later. The measures have been introduced to manage the expected increase in vehicular movement around SKICC.Under the traffic plan, general vehicular movement on Gupkar Road will remain restricted during the designated period. The route will be accessible only to invitees, festival participants, VVIPs and staff associated with the IFFJK event.Restrictions will also be enforced at Badyari Chowk and Brein Chowk for vehicles travelling towards the SKICC-Nehru Park area. General traffic will not be allowed on these routes, except for hotel guests and local residents.As part of the Srinagar traffic diversion plan, vehicles heading towards Nishat will be routed through Gupkar and Hazratbal. Traffic approaching from the Nishat and Harwan sides will also be diverted towards Hazratbal to reduce congestion around the SKICC area.Traffic Police has advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance and avoid the affected roads during the restriction period. Motorists have also been asked to follow instructions issued by traffic personnel deployed along the diverted routes.Emergency vehicles will be allowed to use the shortest available route, subject to traffic regulation at the affected points.For traffic-related assistance, commuters can contact the Traffic Police Control Room at 103.The arrangements have been put in place to ensure smooth movement of dignitaries, festival participants and guests attending the IFFJK inauguration at SKICC.
