Load Carrier Gutted in Early Morning Blaze Near UNO Office in Srinagar

Srinagar, March 26. A load carrier belonging to Rising Kashmir Newspaper was gutted in a fire incident in the Sonwar area of Srinagar in the early hours of Thursday, officials said.

The incident occurred near the UNO Office in Sonwar, where the vehicle bearing registration number JK01AN-6235 caught fire, triggering an emergency response.

Officials said the Fire Control Room at Batamaloo received a distress call at around 4:44 AM, following which a team from Fire Station Gowkadal was rushed to the spot.

Upon arrival, the fire personnel found the Tata Magic load carrier completely engulfed in flames, with fire rapidly spreading through the vehicle.

The firefighters acted swiftly and managed to douse the flames after sustained efforts, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby areas.

An official from the Fire and Emergency Services said the vehicle suffered significant damage in the incident, while confirming that there was no loss of life.

The driver and co-driver of the vehicle managed to escape safely before the fire intensified, officials added.

Authorities said the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and investigations have been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

No injuries were reported in the incident. [KNT]
