Kupwara Police today organised a one-day workshop on Cyber Crime and Financial Frauds with an aim to spread awareness and strengthen coordination between law enforcement agencies, financial institutions and the general public

.The workshop was presided over by Sr. Prosecuting Officer Mr. Masroor and DySP Manisha and witnessed participation from officers of Cyber Police Station Kupwara as well as officials from various banks operating in the district.During the deliberations resource persons highlighted different modes and techniques adopted by cyber criminals with particular emphasis on financial frauds such as phishing, identity theft, ATM/credit card cloning, OTP frauds, online loan scams and fraudulent investment schemes. The participants were sensitised about recent trends in cybercrime preventive measures and the role of awareness in safeguarding people’s hard-earned money.Bank officials shared their experiences and challenges faced by customers while stressing on the importance of strong coordination with law enforcement agencies to curb such crimes. Officers of Cyber Police Kupwara briefed the gathering about the redressal mechanism, helpline numbers and the procedure for reporting incidents at the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.Speaking on the occasion the presiding officers underlined the need for proactive awareness among citizens particularly the youth and urged all stakeholders to adopt best practices for digital safety. They further reiterated that community participation, timely reporting and inter-agency coordination are key to countering cyber threats effectively.
