Iran War: Trump treated Nuke negotiations like real estate transactions, says Iran Foreign MinisterIran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, accused Donald Trump of “bombing the negotiating table out of spite”, and said, “When complex nuclear negotiations are treated like a real estate transaction, and when big lies cloud realities, unrealistic expectations can never be met.”
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Wednesday reiterated his strong opposition to the attack on Iran by the United States and Israel, warning that the conflict risked playing “Russian roulette” with the lives of millions.
Sanchez made the remarks in a televised address after US President Donald Trump threatened to cut trade ties with Madrid over Spain’s stance on the conflict.
“This is how humanity’s great disasters start … You cannot play Russian roulette with the destiny of millions,” Sanchez said.
Tensions between the two NATO allies have escalated after Sanchez denounced the U.S. and Israeli bombings of Iran as reckless and illegal. Spain also banned U.S. aircraft from using naval and air bases in southern Spain for operations linked to the offensive against Tehran.
Sanchez said global challenges could not be resolved through war and military action.
“The position of the Spanish government can be summarised in four words: ‘No to the war,’” he said, adding that the stance was consistent and not disingenuous.
“We’re not going to be complicit in something that’s bad for the world nor contrary to our values and interests simply to avoid reprisals from someone,” Sanchez added, appearing to reference Trump’s trade threats.
