U.S. President Donald Trump sent a peace plan to Iran as he voiced optimism on Tuesday (March 24, 2026) at ending nearly a month of a war, with Tehran announcing that it will let “non-hostile” oil vessels go through the crucial Strait of Hormuz. The tentative signs of a diplomatic solution came despite new violence, with an Iranian missile causing injuries in Israel which in turn pressed on multiple fronts and vowed to seize control of a strip of southern Lebanon

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed the unfolding U.S.-Israel war on Iran. The Pentagon is expected to send ‌thousands of troops from the ⁠elite 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle ‌East, two people familiar ‌with the matter told ‌ Reuters, ⁠adding to the massive military buildup even as the ‌Trump administration seeks talks with Iran. Earlier in the day, Israel launched a series of strikes that hit Beirut’s southern suburbs, the first attack on the Hezbollah stronghold in days. Israel’s military said it captured two members of the Iran-backed group in southern Lebanon.
