New Delhi, March 25: Indian Oil Corporation has dismissed reports of petrol and diesel shortages circulating on social media, stating that fuel supplies across its outlets remain adequate, according to an official advisory issued on Wednesday.
The company urged citizens not to believe or spread unverified information and advised the public to rely only on official sources for updates regarding fuel availability.
“Rumours about petrol and diesel shortages are circulating on social media. Please do not believe or spread them,” the advisory said, adding that all IndianOil outlets are functioning normally with sufficient stock.
The statement comes amid heightened public concern linked to ongoing global developments, which have triggered speculation about potential disruptions in fuel supply.
IndianOil said there is no need for panic buying and appealed to consumers to maintain normal purchasing behaviour to ensure smooth distribution across its network.
“Citizens are urged to stay calm, avoid panic buying, and rely only on official information. Let’s work together to prevent rumours and ensure smooth services,” the company said.
Officials indicated that supply chains remain stable and that adequate measures are in place to meet demand across the country.
The advisory also highlights concerns over misinformation on social media platforms, which can lead to unnecessary public anxiety and disrupt normal supply patterns.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation, while reiterating that there is no immediate shortage of petrol or diesel in the country.
