Kashmir — In a region striving for peace, progress, and inclusive development, Annu, a committed social activist, educationist, and President of the Khaki Association, has emerged as one of the most influential grassroots leaders shaping contemporary Kashmir. Through years of dedicated service, she has become a strong voice for education reform, women empowerment, environmental awareness, and nation-building, earning widespread respect across communities.
Annu’s work as an educationist has left a lasting impact on schools across Kashmir. Moving beyond traditional teaching models, she has championed value-based education that emphasizes character building, confidence, civic responsibility, and ethical thinking. Through student mentorship programmes, community-focused learning initiatives, and engagement with educators, she has helped foster learning environments that encourage social awareness, discipline, environmental responsibility, and national pride among students.
Her influence extends to the broader educational framework through her role as Vice President of the Kashmir Schools Federation. In this capacity, Annu collaborates closely with school leaders and teachers to promote quality education, child-friendly practices, and holistic student development. She has been instrumental in organizing workshops, awareness drives, and collaborative platforms that focus on innovative teaching methods, teacher capacity building, and student welfare. Annu’s social activism is also marked by her close collaboration with the Indian Army in organizing educational, social, and awareness programmes across the region. Among her most notable initiatives are the “Veer Nari” programmes, organized in association with the Indian Army. These programmes honour the courage and resilience of the wives of fallen soldiers, offering platforms for recognition, emotional healing, and empowerment. By bringing their stories into public focus, Annu has helped ensure that Veer Naris receive the respect and support they deserve.
Under her leadership, the Khaki Association has grown into a dynamic grassroots organisation working in women empowerment, environmental awareness, skill development, and employment generation. The association has played a key role in creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for Kashmiri women artisans, helping them preserve traditional crafts while achieving economic independence through training, exhibitions, and entrepreneurship initiatives.
