Gold and silver prices recorded a sharp rise in early trade today (February 11). As soon as trading began on MCX, silver jumped by more than Rs 8,000, while gold gained over Rs 1,600. Silver, which had closed at Rs 2,52,548 per kg in the previous session, opened at Rs 2,57,938. In early trade, it touched a high of Rs 2,60,838 and a low of Rs 2,57,938. By 9.30 am, silver was trading at Rs 2,60,000, up Rs 7,452 or 2.95%.
Gold at Rs 1,56,803 per 10 grams in the last session and opened at Rs 1,58,436 today. In early trade, gold moved between a high of Rs 1,58,436 and a low of Rs 1,57,808. At 9.30 am, it was trading at Rs 1,57,977, up Rs 1,174 or 0.75.
A decline in US Treasury bond yields has also supported global precious metal prices. Spot gold rose 0.3% to $5,038.73 per ounce, while US gold futures climbed 0.6% to $5,060.60. Spot silver rose 1% to $81.49 per ounce. Silver had fallen more than 3%% in the previous session.
