Gas Shortage in Srinagar Sparks Public Outcry, Agencies Cite Supply Crunch
SRINAGAR: Residents across various parts of Srinagar are grappling with a severe shortage of LPG, accusing gas agencies of ignoring their plight and failing to ensure timely delivery.
Several consumers from both the city and its outskirts complained that their LPG cylinder bookings have been pending for weeks without any clear response from the agencies.
We have booked our cylinders long back, but every time we approach the concerned gas agencies, we are told there is a supply shortage, said Irfan Ahmad, a resident of Hyderpora. “This situation has persisted for the past month. Despite confirmed bookings, agencies are refusing deliveries citing lack of supply.
Ahmad added that even the delivery personnel have switched off their phones, leaving consumers helpless.
The situation is reportedly the same in several localities, including Chattabal, where residents say LPG deliveries have come to a complete halt for unspecified reasons.
Frustrated consumers have urged the administration to intervene and resolve the crisis at the earliest.
The complaints have emerged at a time when the Meteorological Department has predicted a wet spell across Jammu and Kashmir, with rain and snow likely until October 7. The advisory also warned of potential disruptions to surface traffic, adding to the urgency of restoring LPG supplies before the onset of inclement weather.
