Udhampur, Dec 15 : An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the Udhampur district on Monday, officials said.
Sources said militants affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit have been trapped following a cordon and search operation launched by security forces in the Soan Majtala area. Firing was reported after the militants opened fire on the forces, prompting a retaliatory response.
Additional forces have been rushed to the spot, and the area has been cordoned off to prevent any escape. The operation was ongoing at the time of filing this report.
